How it works:
- 8 clubs will participate
- 128 total players will partake in the 36 hole event
- Each of the 8 teams will elect 1 captain and 1 co-captain
- Teams will consist of 16 players (playing) and 2 alternates (for last minute drop outs) *Players must be members of their respective clubs, No flying in ringers.
- All Team Captains will meet (zoom) 1 week prior to event to set matchups
- Each team Captain will set 16 total partner matchups for the 128 matches and 36 holes of play.
- With 16 total matchups per team there will be 4 9 hole matches with total points available to score for each team being 32 points.
- Both rounds will be Shotgun starts (8am and 1:30pm).
- After R1 there will be a 60 min gap for lunch, drinks and to find their next hole. If the matchups change players will coordinate switching carts for new matchups.
- Handicaps, if needed, will be worked out by the captains per matchup during the Matchup Zoom Call. Matchups SHOULD be set to pin teams that are similar in skill, but if there is large difference in skill captains can vote on handicap to be assigned to higher handicapped team.
During the Captain Zoom Call, Matchups will be made in order as follows:
- For Round 1, Ex: Team 1 sets first matchup Tim/Greg. Now Team 2 can either send a team against Tim/Greg or create another matchup. This process follows until all matchups are set.
- For Round 2, Ex: Team 8 will now set their first matchup Tom/Steve. Team 7 can now send a team against Tom/Steve or create another matchup. This process follows until all matchups are set.
- Each captain is going to set 16 total matchups. To keep it fair and fun, every club must play 2 matchups against every other club. Ie: Team 1 will play Team 2 twice. Team 2 will play team 3 twice. Etc
Matches will be played as traditional Match Play scoring. For ex: Team 1 wins the first hole with a birdie over a par, then Team 1 goes up >1 on Team 2. Once a team wins a 9 hole match, the remaining holes should be played out in the same format and style OR players can elect to skip the holes, watch other matches, or play another format they would like. And since it’s match play, holes can be conceded and putts can be given by the opposite team anytime.
The club that scores the most points across their 32 matches will be declared the winner of the Cup and will receive the great honor that is “Champion Team of the Year” – The Clash of the Clubs and each of the winner team will take a shot from their Whisky Bottles prizes. Winning team will also receive $500 to use for their club.
Should there be a tie, the clubs tied at the top will send their top 2 players each to play a sudden death playoff of alternate shot match play on Hole #1. Should the playoff go too long or the course not allow completion on course, we will move to a alternate shot 3 hole aggregate putt off on the putting green. If not decided after that then sudden death putt will presume until a winner is declared.
In addition to the Cup there will be multiple side contest with prizes:
- Post Round Raffle with Multiple Sponsor Prizes
